Since the entry into service of Copernicus first satellite, Sentinel-1A, in 2014, the impacts of the programme are witnessed beyond the upstream industry, and bring economic, social, environmental and strategic benefits to the European EO downstream sector as well as to the wider community of final users.

These factsheets demonstrate tangible examples of cost reductions, additional revenues or environmental improvements which are great illustrations of the types of contribution Copernicus can generate for both EO applications developers and non space markets.

Access to Finance

With its free, full and open data policy, the Copernicus programme intends to boost innovation and economic growth, making the commercial downstream sector a key element and therefore a prime target of the EU policies and funding instruments.

In this context, the European Commission, other public institutions and the private sector have designed several funding instruments which can help developing Copernicus-related business. These factsheets aim to help companies to find the most relevant ones.
