Guidance to report on land-use change and forestry emissions

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

The latest rules (2013-2020) of the Kyoto Protocol require accounting of all forest activities. Building on the Protocol, an EU legislation sets out new rules for the land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector and makes the accounting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mandatory also for cropland and grazing land management activities.


A recent report from JRC finds that EU Member States will face some challenges in meeting these new reporting and accounting requirements.
