Minecraft satellite-building competition

Space Competitions

EUMETSAT, together with the European Commission’s Copernicus Programme  and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, has launched a competiton to either build the best Minecraft model of the Sentinel-3 or Jason-3 ocean-monitoring satellites, or to design a new ocean satellite and maybe even an ocean monitoring system with satellites, buoys, automatic robots etc.


The competition is open to entrants aged between 6-16 years in three age categories (6-8, 9-11, and 12-16).


All entries will be displayed on the EUMETSAT competition site and the winners of the three age categories will each get iPads and there will be runners-up prizes of Raspberry Pi (mini PC) starter kits.
